day dreams

the busier it gets this time of year, the more i find myself day dreaming of deck chairs and good books, endless cups of teas and quiet from the christmas noise (carols! sales! traffic! stress!)

i miss having stewie around. apart from being a super cool cat, i realise now that he forced us to relax more often when he’d wander up and randomly settle in on our lap (or chest or shoulder…) and demand that we just sit and focus on the task at hand (which usually was patting him) while he got busy with the purring. i hope that he’s around somewhere doing important de-stressing work with some other lucky family and that his time with us simply had to end.

Tomorrow, B and I are hitting the road and heading for a much needed weekend away at the beach. I’m looking forward to early morning walks on the beach, hiking in the national park and eating gelato at that place that has been there since I was little. My cameras are packed and I’m all set to go. And just like when I was little, I should be asleep but the excitement of an adventure is keeping me wide awake…

on the weekend

Here are some more photos from last weekend. We were there to watch the WRC with B’s dad and my brother but our unit was across from the beach at Kirra. Two wonderful places to be in one weekend! Bonus. It was wonderful to have some time to explore and people-watch (my favourite was seeing all the people up in the trees at the Rally) and generally take our time.

Inspired by Maggie Mason’s Mighty Life List, I’m currently making up my own. It’s been interesting to put to paper what it is that I actually want out of life. Goals are good. And hopefully, I’ve got plenty of time to get to ticking those things off! Will share my own Life List soon.

Also, this made me smile: “mustache, a study“.

I wonder where Cheryl and John are right now?

I hope that they still think of the time they marked forever a moment of happiness for all to see. A bold, messy, proclamation of love on a rock wall next to the beach at the end of that street.

Right now I would really like to be where these woods are. How wonderful would it be to have woodlands like this close to your home? Don’t you think?

I’m off to bed now. I’m a bit grumpy tonight and I think all I need is a good nights sleep and a solid breakfast in the morning.
